Should I do renovations BEFORE I sell?
A lot of people want to go in and renovate their property before they put it on the market. I genuinely don’t recommend doing that because most projects don’t have a great return on investment. So, dollar for dollar what you put in is not necessarily what you’re going to get out. If your property is super dated with shag carpet and laminate wood grain counters, then perhaps you do need to do some renovations but keep in mind you’re not always going to get dollar for dollar what you put in if you go renovate your home. This is why it is super important to allow a trusted real estate professional to come give you their expertise on what the comparables are for your neighborhood. This will allow you to know what kind of return on investment you will get on any type of renovations.
